Witches

I just posted my newest painting to ebay. "Witches" I was inspired by Jenny Carter of the Wonders Of Whimsy. She has been making such wonderful Halloween dolls that I just couldn't help but get into the Halloween spirit. Spirit, hmmm that might be a good hint of what my next painting will be. Hee hee

Donkey and Cart

This is my garden and this is my donkey. Yes. I inherited a Donkey and Cart. I am not sure that this is the proper statue for my garden, but I could not resist. This donkey has been passed down by my husbands grandma. It needs a little work on the cart that I am prepared to do. Hee hee. I really like donkeys. My sister has one that lives next door to her and he is like a big dog. Very friendly and cute. A little scary when he gets loose, but still cute. Anyway, Yeah.

Bug Blog

I am still playing around with my next paintings. It has been a busy weekend. I did want to share my bug story. I have already told everyone who would listen and I still can not get it out of my head, so now I am blogging about it.

Rose my daughter had crayon shavings all on her lap so I had her go out the back door to shake them off. It was dark out but I could see a shadow by her foot that looked about the size of her foot, so we promptly screamed and I pulled her in and shut the door.
A few seconds later we heard a KNOCK at that door! Rose and I looked at each other and knew it could only be one thing. That bug! It was so big it was knocking at the back door. So my husband heard all of this and had to have a look. I said get ready because he wants in. So we cracked the door to take a peak and before we knew it he was inside! It was huge! I am still not sure what it was. We swooshed it out again and watched through the window with amazement as it walked away. The only thing I could find that might be it was a Blister Beetle. We have horned beetles so I know it was not that, but it was just as big if not bigger. I hope I can stop thinking about it now.

I will be posting these two new paintings today on ebay. I have a couple others I am working on this week, but they are different than these two.

These two were inspired by the new paper I bought. The colors and patterns made me think of swimsuits so off to the beach we go.

"Swimmers" an 8X10 was the first and I finished it with antiquing and Beeswax for a a very shabby chic beach house feel. I love how it turned out. I love all of their faces. Especially the one on the end. She looks like the water might be cold or splashing her . :) I also did videos for each. I am addicted.

"Seaside" a 6X6 was kept very crisp and clean for a more modern look finished with a gloss varnish. They still both look awesome together.

Cow's Milk

I am still working on my next art project. I have some perfecting to do. I should be done Sunday.
This weekend has been focused on food! I get to go out to eat two nights in a row! :) It is my husbands birthday weekend and that is what Italians like to do to celebrate. EAT!
Last night we took my sweet little Rose out for her first official restaurant experience for all the cow's milk she could eat. My son is allergic so we rarely have it in the house. We live on soy milk and tofu, which is fine with me. I love it, but my Rosalie does love cow's milk. We ate at Rich and Charlies. http://www.richandcharlies.com/ The owners are close friends of the family. They took great care of us. Tonight we go out again to a steak house. Happy Birthday Scott and Emil!
Tomorrow I will post my newest painting. I can not wait to finish them. I wish I could work on them right now.

Summer Down Hill

I am starting to get very sad about summer ending. We had a cold front come through and with it brought a taste of fall. Back to school is in the air and on the shelves.
My Hydrangeas are all brown now. My little Rose's body will soon need to be bundled in many clothes making it harder to see her little chubby arms and legs. My first Holly Hock has taken a nose dive and turned to seed.
Goodbye to the long days and hello to the long nights.

"Brown Eyes"

I finished "Brown Eyes" today. I named her after the Billy Holiday song "Them There Eyes". I love Billy Holiday. I did a progression picture video. I will have to try that again. It turned out pretty cool.

Here is my next project. Looks pretty strange right now. No, it will not be a painting of aliens. :) I hope not. Hmmmm

Posted to Ebay

I finally posted my newest paintings to Ebay today. This weekend has been very busy. The only unaffected would be this little cuteness. If you look very close you can see one of her eyes. So cute.

I have been wanting to do another Frida, so I did. This one is so prim and bright. I was in a very bright color mood this week. I love how the cats look a little concerned with the crow in her lap. We have a crow family around our house and I am always so amazed at their size running around the drive and yard. I did take a digital short of them I will try to get up here soon.

I love how "Fairy Fern" turned out . The bright red and green are so cheery. The collage papers came from a book that was mine as a child. Sad to say it is vintage now. I did paint her again in a more traditional setting peaking around the tree in "Picking Flowers" at the "Real Girl" which I am currently working on.

"Counting Cats" was inspired by a black cat crossing my path the other day. They are so striking in any landscape that when they do cross your path it takes a few minutes to think, "Oh, that was bad luck wasn't it?". I guess that is why my weekend went so crazy. Hope yours was better!

Fairy Fern and More

This week was too eventful. I sure did NOT get as much done as I wanted to. I never do. This week started with my 6 year old son wanting a big boy room. My first folk art painting was created on his wall. He thinks he is too old for trees and birds .:( It was a little harder than I thought it would be to paint over them. We both were a little teary eyed. I just kept thinking, these newly painted walls of plain white and blue are the walls that he will grow his first mustache in. Waaaaaaaa.

Good bye baby, hello boy and then teenager. They grow so fast.
The week ended with two cases of swimmers ear. Both my daughter and son. They have been spending everyday under water with their new goggles. Not a good thing.

But, I did manage to paint some, besides my sons walls. After cleaning out the kids room, I brought my favorite toy of theirs into my office. I bought this knowing they would not play with it too much, but I just LOVE the way it looks, so now it is officially mine. It became quite an inspiration piece for colors this week. Some weeks I paint very dark, but this week I could not help but paint bright. Here is a peek of what I will be putting on ebay. I am still not finished with the 8x10. Hopefully I will get these up soon.

Off to another play date, but I plan to paint over there. Yeah!

Have a good day!

Summer Fun

I feel like my house is going to pot! I really need to clean around here, but that is just not priority. Making this a fun summer for my kids and painting always come first.

We went to Villa Antonia Winery Sunday. The family came out to hear my husbands band play. It is a nice place for the kids to run around and the adults catch up. Here is a pic of my sister Cris in the red shirt with her friend Wanda.

Anyway, my camera battery is dead otherwise I would show the paintings I am working on. I will do that on my next post.

Now, I am off to Mommy's Midwest Mountain. The kids planned to swim today.

Enjoy the day! Life is short!

July 12, 2008

This is the lovely "Fairy Lu Lu". After finishing "Fairy Work", I thought the little red haired fairy so cute that I had to paint her portrait. So actually both paintings are suppose to be of the same fairy. She is a bird fairy and takes care of all the little birds in the forest. There are so many babies right now that her work is never done.

I met this fairy for the first time peeping out from behind this tree.

I want to thank Jenny Carter creator of "Wonders of Whimsy" for showing a couple of my paintings on her blog. A very entertaining blog. Thank you again Jenny.
