I love reading the original Grimm's fairy tales to my children. I like to dramatize the scary evil characters until their little chins drop. Come on.... I know I am not alone.

I recently read Hansel and Grethel to them and I still can't get over how the Father would pick his new bride over his children, but I imagine that kind of stuff still goes on today. This painting was inspired by Hansel and Grethel lost in the woods after being coaxed into taking a nap, only to awaken cold and alone. Up on ebay at .99cents.

Hansel and gretel is possibly my most favourite story ever (maybe a tie with red riding hood), I will one day paint that gingerbread cottage lol!

I love your painting, you can tell they are scared but still love each other so much! fantastic!

I'm going to ebay to bid! I love the forest background and the moon. It seems strange that a parent would pick a new spouse over their own children but you know it happens all the time and not just Dads.

Lovely, evocative work! I love the old fairy tales too, they have so much truth disguised as fiction...probably why they are still so popular.
