Last summer, at the end of summer we were all over my sister Cris's house of Mommy's Midwest Mountain for a swim. She had been telling us about this little dwarf opossum that would come to her bird feeder for food. So we stayed late to see it. We were all gathered around the sliding glass window with the lights off like it was a movie theater waiting for the tiny opossum to show up.
He did! He was so tiny and cute, but it wasn't long before he was scared off by a normal size opossum. We were all like awwww, go away normal opossum we want to see the little one again. The normal one kept coming back and forth from the dark to the light teasing us. Each time we thought it would be the little one back. So one of the boys scared him off so the little one would come back. We were all glued to see it , when all of a sudden the face of what looked like a wild bore, but white and huge appeared right before the glass! We all screamed, "Ahhhhhhh!" and ran away. It was the largest opossum I had ever seen in my life. It really was as big as a pig. I still wish I had a picture of that.

Maybe they were like goldilocks and the 3 bears. The little one was the baby. I grew up in Indiana. There were plenty of opossum. Here in Colorado, I almost forgot about them. Very sweet painting!

Ha Ha! I remember that night! I heard you all scream downstairs and I came running to see what was going on, but I missed the giant 'possum! Was that the night that the baby raccoons were trying steal our S'more makings? lol, Yes, Jenny, my yard can be a little frightening at night!
Oooh, oppssums! they are truly the ugliest things. One kept coming up to my parent's house one day, and my brother's friend grabbed the thing by it's tail, swung it around a couple of times, and flug it into the bushes. that crazy thing didnt know what hit it! Oh, they creep me out! especially with the hissing...
what a great story, I would love to have been there!
We did a similar thing at a friends house who has badgers come into her garden at night, so cute!!
