I wish this was "Our House" with two cats in the yard getting along. I have my water gun loaded and I am trying desperately to socialize the new cat with the old one. I have spent so much time with this it is ridiculous. I can not believe how he makes a bee line for her every chance he gets. What is up? His hormones should be lower by now. I really can not tell what he wants from her. I have never had this problem with other cats. I feel so bad for Tamale having to stress with this. She is just an old lady that wants to sleep. I can't tell if he just wants to play? I wonder if another kitten would help. Do two wrongs ever make a right?

Love the painting! It's really weird but on the way home today I said to my son look at those cute cats playing in the yard, it was a black and white one and a yellow one! and then my son said, Mom I don't think they are playing LOL! The black/white one was defending it's yard and chased the yellow one right out!! Oh boy on trying to get yours to get along. Hopefully things will settle down for you soon!! xo Michele

This is a beautiful painting! When I was a child we had numerous cats, none housecats. As an adult I had cats and dogs together but never a cat and a cat. Sadly no experience to assist you and Tamale.

This is a lovely painting! I love how you use color, and your people are always so sweet.
Socializing animals can be delicate work. We just reintroduced my neutered boy rabbit with his long-time love and their baby rabbit ;) so far so good though.
I've heard that one way to socialize two cats is have each of them sleep on a towel or blanket, and then a little later switch their blankets around. After a day or two of this, they both end up with eachother's scent on them and it helps them calm down around eachother.
Sometimes overzealous tomcats cant take a hint though. my cat Annie, who is fixed, has a 'boyfriend' that comes around and yowls at her at night ever so often ;)

Very cute painting. It reminds me of the old song, "Our House" by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Poor, poor Tamale--it's hard to be a sought after diva, but then I wouldn't know.

Oh Jen, isn't that cage deal working? What a dilemma! I wish I could tell you I'd take one.

I really like this painting....sorry to hear about the cat problem though! Whenever I'd take one of my 2 girls to the groomer to get shaved...they'd hiss and smack eachother around a little at first. We always thought the one that stayed home didn't recognize the other, I don't know. But it rarely lasted more than a day.

Thanks for the advice! I did do the blanket thing, the crate thing, and the treat deal and they are not having a problem with smell....I think. They seem to enjoy eating out of each others bowls and sleeping on each others beds. The problem is he wants to touch her. He will not just give her her space. It would all be fine if he would just stay his distance. I guess it will just take some painful whacks in the face from her. I hate to let that happen to both of them, but they say sometime you just got to let the fur fly. :( Cameron, I have read about the groomer confusion. It is amazing how much they rely on smell.

Loving the painting!

Poor Tamale! Our dogs did this for a while and now they are best of friends but I know that the older one feel really miffy for ages. We just let them sort it out themselves in the end and after the odd bustup they coped well!

I am loving all the paintings with cats in them! We have 6 cats and there is always squabbling between them, the dynamics are constantly shifting...
