Pumpkin Eater
What kid would want to be bacon for Halloween?
This was actually in Parents magazine as a cool costume idea. Look at how proud the Mom looks. She looks so pleased to have her little family be a BLT, but LOOK at the boy! He looks soooo sad. I do not know any boy at that age that would like to be bacon for Halloween. Of course , now I keep teasing my 6 year old boy that I am working on this costume for us. Ha ha ha . NOT.

THE VELVET RIBBON
by Ann McGovern
Once there was a man who fell in love with a beautiful girl. And before
the next full moon rose in the sky, they were wed.
To please her husband, the young wife wore a different gown each night.
Sometimes she was dressed in yellow; other nights she wore red or blue
or white. And she always wore a black velvet ribbon around her slender
neck.
Day and night she wore that ribbon, and it was not long before her
husband's curiosity got the better of him.
"Why do you always wear that ribbon?" he asked.
She smiled a strange smile and said not a word.
At last her husband got angry. And one night he shouted at his bride.
"Take that ribbon off! I'm tired of looking at it."
You will be sorry if I do," she replied, "so I won't." Every morning at
breakfast, the husband ordered his wife to remove the black velvet
ribbon from around her neck. Every night at dinner he told her the same
thing.
But every morning at breakfast and every night at dinner, all his wife
would say was, "You'll be sorry if I do. So I won't."
A week had passed. The husband no longer looked into his wife's eyes. He
could only stare at that black velvet ribbon around her neck.
One night as his wife lay sleeping, he tiptoed to her sewing basket. He
took out a pair of scissors.
Quickly and quietly, careful not to awaken her, he bent over his wife's
bed
and
SNIP! went the scissors, and the velvet ribbon fell to the floor
and
SNAP! off came her head. It rolled over the floor in the moonlight,
wailing tearfully:
"I...told...you...you'd...be...s-o-r-r-y!"

Gifties
I want to thank my sister Cris of Mommy's Midwest Mountain for gifting me the Ghost painting that I have been eyeing for awhile. It look so cute in my kitchen. I love it! Also a special thanks to my other sister and her daughters for the very cute Mice Guards. Tamale has already taken a liking to them. They do seem to move about the house at night though. I find them in different spots when I wake up in the morning. Nino thinks they must be like Gnomes.

The Principles of Uncertainty
Came across this book the other day and really loved it. Of course, I love anything with art and this is full of it. :) I know it has been out for awhile, I am late in finding this person, but oh well.
"The beliefs and views of Maira Kalman or not necessarily the beliefs and views of Tamalecat Art Studio" Ha ha
I just really love all of the illustrations and it is an interesting read. :)Click on the link below

I wanted to share this sweet little painting I did for a couple of our best friends that just had a beautiful baby girl. I have this painting as my screen saver right now. I love how it turned out. I am so glad that they love it too and I can not wait to meet the little princess in person.
As you know we went on vacation to the ocean, so that is where I was inspired to paint my Halloween Mermaid. She is very bright and cheery and not scary at all, but those fish below her are just a little scary. I am working on some new paintings right now and a different kind of craft that I am not use to doing so I hope it turns out. Can't wait to share.

Destin
Here are some of my favorite pics from our trip to Destin Point. These first pics are of my baby boy Nino
and my sweet little Rose. Below, she is trying to catch her first Sea Gull.

Violet
Oh, Violet is a beauty. But how can she go walking at night with her beautiful white neck just out there in the open with all of those vampire bats around?! She is either the thrill seeking type or just simply too trusting. She is young and will learn her lesson some day, but I hope it will not be tonight. I hope that tonight she will be able to dance into the sunset without a care.
One is an impressionist painting that my little girl and her two cats are just passing through. They made a path with a charcoal pencil and decided to walk right in. They are not really suppose to be there. The kitties are a little unsure about continuing the walk. I think they will find their home just over the hill.
I plan to post these to EBay September the 15Th.

The sun is setting earlier
The sun is setting earlier and earlier and this is only a reminder of how fast my days are going now that school is in. Everyday is spent with reading, writing, science, social studies, arithmetic and Spanish. I am always amazed at how much our children are expected to learn these days.
Along with being a Math, Social Studies, Science, Spanish, and Reading Teacher, I am also an ART TEACHER. Yea! We made play dough last night. That was fun.
Now my Boss is really on me about finishing this painting, so I better get back to work. I will post this one soon. My goal is today.
